Simply Sensational Smoothies

When I went for first time to TGI Friday in Trinidad & Tobago to hang out with my co-workers after working hours I did not feel like drinking alcohol... and the waitress introduced me to the nicer and refreshing no alcoholic beverages, the Smoothie, since that I got a king of addictive to the drinks, it is so nice to drink it, the fruity flavor and the variate is enormous, its allow any combination. The fruity icy feeling in your mouth make you ask for more and it is not that heavy like a milkshake so you may end drinking at least two.
The Smoothie"  (also known as a "smoothy"), is a  blended chilled, sweetened beverage made from fresh fruit or a commercial smoothie ready made preparation. In addition to fruit or vegetables, the smoothie contain  crushed ice or  frozen fruit, some of the are made with yogurt. The smoohthie have a milkshake-like Constancy and is thicker than other fruit drinks. Unlike milkshake the smoothie do not contain ice cream but it can contain milk or yogurt.
You can use any type of fruit but the most popular flavour that you can find in restaurants are mango-peach, banana-strawberry, mango, kiwi and berries, a many more... but also if you like to try eating veggies in  a different  way you can also prepare smoothies made of pumpkin, broccoli and other veggies.
If you want to enjoy of a refreshing and chilled drink, check this recipes for fruity and veggie persons:

 

Mango-Peach Smoothie

  • 1peach sliced
  • 1 mango, peeled and diced
  • 1/2 cup vanilla soy milk
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
Direction:Place the peach, mango, soy milk, and orange juice into a blender. Cover, and puree until smooth, Pour into a glass and serve.

Pumpkin Smoothie

  • 1 cup of canned pumpkin or 1 cup of peeled and boiled pumpkin cut in cubes.
  • 1 cup fresh cut apricot or frozen
  • 1 tbs sugar
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg
  • 1 cup of ice
Direction: Blend until creamy. Add more sugar if you need. Serve immediately.

Pinapple - Coconut  Smoothie

  • 1  cup frozen pineapple pieces
  • 1 frozen banana, peel banana before freezing
  • 3/4 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup frozen vanilla or strawberry yogurt
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 3 tablespoon coconut
Directions: Put all the ingredients in the blender and blend them until smooth. Serve immediately.

Banana Smoothie

  •  2 bananas
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 8 cubes ice
Directions: In a blender combine bananas and milk. Pulse until bananas are chopped. Pour in water and brown sugar. Blend until smooth. Toss in the ice cubes and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

Broccoli Smoothie

  • 1 carrot (chopped)
  • 4 florets of broccoli
  • 2 handfuls of spinach
  • 1 apple (chopped)
  • Oranges (peeled and quartered)
  • Orange juice to dilute
Directions:  Blend all the ingredients until smooth.
